a joke or a humorous anecdote to create a happy mood. Make sure
you're speaking to a group that can actually take a joke, however,
because what's funny to you might not be to others.

5) Do You Take Responsibility?

Responsibility is a pressing issue in today's society. How are we to
determine whether or not someone is responsible for their own
actions? Pleading temporary insanity keeps mass murderers from the
death penalty. Parents blame heavy metal music for their child
committing heinous acts. Others think hand guns should be outlawed
because most people can't use them responsibly. Who is right? It's
not like we can take a measurement of responsibility, or graph it out
on a chart. Responsibility is too subjective.

The truth is that responsibility is based on individual experience
and everyone's differing priorities and values. This is the problem
that we face. People understand that there's no concrete definition
of responsibility, and they try to take advantage of its flexibility
in order to avoid paying for their own actions. You know people like
this. They act recklessly and blame it on someone or something else.
They know they can get away with it. Whether or not karma takes care
of them in the end or they're just allowed to skip off into the
sunset, nobody knows for sure.

How do we stop this destructive pattern. The only way we can is by
setting a good example. The people around you take notice when you
set a good example. The world could be made a much better place if
enough people set a good example. Take responsibility for your
actions even if it puts you in a situation you wanted to avoid. Show
the people around you that it's okay to make mistakes as long as you
do your best to make up for them.
